Remember: Blood must flow into the tubes quickly. Mix the blood by rotating each tube rapidly around the longitudinal axis and moving it slowly so that the blood moves from the bottom to the cap and vice versa. Avoid violent shaking of the sample.
Dispose of the needle in the special needle disposal container or in an improvised safety device.
Remember: From the first moment the blood comes in contact with the needle and syringe, it begins to coagulate and hemolyze. Both reduce the reliability of the results. That is why they must be kept to a minimum: 1) The whole process must be very fast. 2) Sample handling should be gentle.
